Sadio Mane has withdrawn from Senegal’s World Cup squad due to injury.
The Senegal key man will miss the World Cup as he needs to undergo surgery on a knee injury he sustained during Bayern Munich’s 6-1 victory over Werder Bremen on November 8.
The reigning Africa Cup of Nations champions, Senegal, are in Group A.
Their first game of the World Cup is against the Netherlands on Monday.
That is followed by a game against the hosts Qatar on November 25 and Ecuador on November 29.
The 30-year-old was central in February as Senegal won their first-ever AFCON. He scored the winning penalty as the Lions of Teranga defeated Egypt in a shoot-out in the final.
Sadio Mane was again crucial two months later, when his decisive spot-kick was enough to qualify his country for Qatar against the same Pharaohs of Egypt.
