RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku has already signed a pre-contract agreement with Chelsea and will move to the premier league club in the summer of 2023, according to reports.
Following reports on Friday that the 24-year-old had a medical with Chelsea in a Frankfurt hospital in August, David Ornstein of The Athletic added that a pre-contract agreement was also signed between Nkunku and the West London club.
To ward off competition from other top clubs interested in signing the Frenchman, Chelsea is committed to paying Leipzig a price in excess of Nkunku’s €60m release clause plus a higher fee in advance.
In January, Nkunku signed a two-year contract extension at RB Leipzig until 2026 and the €60m release clause which will be active in the summer of 2023 was inserted in his contract.
Nkunku joined Leipzig from PSG in 2019, helping the club to capture the DFB-Pokal against Freiburg last term.
He scored 35 goals in 52 matches last season and has already scored 8 times in 12 matches this term.
Nkunku won the 2021/22 Bundesliga player of the year award last season ahead of Robert Lewandowski, Patrik Schick and Erling Haaland.
