Thiago Silva says while talking in San Siro that his contract talk with Chelsea could happen before or after World Cup

Thiago Silva contract talk with Chelsea could happen before or after the World Cup, reveals the defender.

The Brazilian centre-back who was rested against Wolves at the weekend due to heavy cold, previously revealed his intention to continue playing until he turns 40.

Speaking ahead of the UEFA Champions League clash against AC Milan on Tuesday, Silva said it’s not the right time to talk about a new contract extension with The Blues.

“For me, what is important is to continue playing at a high level and achieve the best results.”

“I have to consider my family arrangements. I will have to decide what to do as this is an important decision. We will see what will happen,” the 38 year old added.

When asked about Silva’s contract situation, Chelsea head coach Graham Potter said that Silva will have to decide how long he wishes to continue playing, while praising his qualities.

“I’ve been here three or four weeks. I see his qualities. The level he can play at, the performance levels he can reach, the amount of respect he has throughout the game is just incredible.

“So all I can do is try and help him enjoy his football here, be part of a winning team, and then the rest of the stuff is something for him and the club to think about.”

Thiago Silva joined Chelsea from PSG in 2020 and have renewed his contract twice in 2021 and 2022, he will be looking forward to renewing his contract for a third time after the World Cup in Qatar.
