Chris Wilder sacked by Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough have this morning sacked head coach Chris Wilder following Saturday’s 1-0 loss to fellow relegation-threatened Coventry City.

Wilder replaced Neil Warnock in November of last year and led Middlesbrough to a 7th place finish in the championship, 5 points below play-off spot.

The former Sheffield United boss started the current season in a poor form winning only two in eleven games, losing five of those with four draws.

On sacking Wilder, a statement read: “Middlesbrough Football Club have terminated the contract of manager Chris Wilder with immediate effect.

“Leo Percovich will take over first team affairs in the interim basis, assisted by Craig Liddle, Mark Tinkler and Lee Cattermole.

“The club would like to place on record its thanks to Chris and his staff for all their hard work over the past 11 months.”
