Nottingham Forest appoints Filippo Giraldi as new sporting director

Nottingham Forest have appointed Filippo Giraldi as their new sporting director.

Giraldi joins Forest after nine years with Watford where he served as their chief scout and later technical director.

The Italian who signed Richarlison, Doucoure, Joao Pedro and others left Watford after their relegation to the Championship in the 2019/20 season.

The 48-year-old was a former director of football at AC Prato and as chief scout and head of academy at Brescia.

Steve Cooper, who is under intense pressure after losing five premier league matches on the bounce, stays on following talks with the club hierarchy on Wednesday.

Cooper is expected to be given more time to turn things around or face the axe as they welcome Aston Villa to City Ground on Monday night.

Rafael Benitez, the former Liverpool and Chelsea manager had appeared as a likely man to replace Cooper at the Reds, but things will slow down as it stands.
