Rotherham United have appointed Exeter City coach Matt Taylor as their new head coach.
The English football manager has signed a contract until 2026 and will replace Paul Warne, who last week joined Derby County alongside coaches Matt Hamshaw, Andy Warrington and Richie Barker.
Last season, the 40-year-old led Exeter City to promotion from League Two and has won four matches from eleven this season.
Taylor will join his new club alongside assistant Wayne Carlisle, Exeter City confirmed upon announcing his departure.
Taylor, a former player at St James park between 2006 and 2011 was appointed by the Grecians in June 2018, replacing Paul Tisdale who was manager for twelve years.
Exeter said the clubs “reached an agreement on a suitable compensation sum” before they allowed Taylor to depart and coaches Jon Hill and Kevin Nicholson would be taking over the first team in an interim basis while they look to appoint a new manager.

On appointing Matt Taylor as their new head coach, Rotherham United said “Taylor has been identified as the young, ambitious and intelligent manager that the Millers’ Board were looking for and not only does he boast those credentials, he also has form for following a long-term occupant of a managerial post.”
