Sevilla have re-appointed their former Manager Jorge Sampaoli as their new head coach.
The Argentine has signed a contract until 2024 and will replace Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked yesterday following their 4-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, after a poor start to the new La Liga season.
Sampaoli first spell at the Nervion outfit was in 2016/17 season when he led the club to a fourth finish in the league with 27 wins, 14 losses and 12 draws in 53 total matches.
He left Sevilla after the 2016/17 season and joined the Argentina national team with whom he guided at the 2018 World Cup, losing to France in the round of 16.
The 62-year-old led Olympique Marseille to a second place finish in the league last season as well as reaching the semifinals of the Conference League.
He left Marseille in July because of differences with the club’s hierarchy citing “poor activity in the transfer market” as the main reason.
Jorge Sampaoli first match upon his return will be against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
